Often, you can spend one-half to two-thirds of your day learning how to be a hair stylist and spend the other part doing normal school work back at your high school (math, English, history). Plus, if you do this during junior and senior year, you might be able to go right into the industry.

If you are out of high school, check the local paper for beauty schools, or ask your personal hair stylist where she went. Apply to more than one school, if possible.

Contact the schools and set up a meeting with the advisor.

If you are accepted, enroll and attend all your classes. Some will be hands on, others will be like traditional school.

After completing the classes, look for beauty shops with openings for new stylists. Send in your application, do your best at the interview, and you may just be hired! Similarly, you could open up your own salon if you have enough money.

[edit] TipsThe hair industry is a highly competetive one. Don't be offended if it takes a few tries for you to get hired, especially fresh out of beauty school.

Don't be offended if a regular customer stops coming to you. It's not an insult to you personally, so just forget it and move on.

If a customer complains about their hair, always offer to fix it free of charge. Sure, you'll lose a few bucks but you'll keep a valuable customer.

Go to beauty school and when you get out get some experience in a well known shoppe like Beauty Brands they are pretty much all over the U. S. ( my daughter has worked in one of their shoppes for several years ) then move to Hollywood, Ca. where they film movies and soaps or New York and I hope everything works out for u !

we have the same dream.... well first off you have to go to school to get your cosmetology license... you probably have to be an assistant for 2 years before u get ur own chair....then you just work get experience and if your really good you make a porfolio and take it to major industrys/salons......there are so many jobs out there for celebritys entourage and highend salons.

It will take lots of experience and luck to actually become a "celebrity stylist." There is nothing wrong with aiming high, but you have to be willing to work long and hard for it.

Set goals for yourself.

Example:

1. Graduate hair school.

2. Get a job assisting in a top salon in your area, and learn as much as you can.

3. Start doing hair and building a strong clientele.

4. Keep up with current trends and aspire to become the best stylist in your town.

5. When you are confident, move to LA or NY.

6. Now you will have to start all over again...get into a high-level salon and build your clientele.

Becoming a celebrity stylist is all about reputation. So you have to be one of the best at what you do. Its not easy, and the odds are against you.
